Growing up in Pauanui (Coromandel area) I lived on the oceans doorstep. Diving and fishing were skills I developed early on in life and became a passion that would see me through to my future career.
I started my engineering apprenticeship young, at a mare age of 15. Eager to learn, and with my youth behind me - A & G Price | Engineers of Excellence | in the coromandel took me on. As I was so keen to learn all I could, A & G reciprocated this and put a huge amount of effort into training me to be the best engineer I could. As an apprentice we learnt from tool and machine making, non-destructive testing, all types of welding procedures, foundry moulding, metal casting, pattern making, heat treatment, and metallurgy.
The procedures and quality assurance AGP installed into all their apprentices has stuck with me till today and will continue on, into the many years of Engineering and Shipwrights production. I gained my trade certificate with AGP and continued to work for the company a following three years thereafter.
Later moving to Auckland, I worked at Universal pattern makers (Universal Pattern & Mouldmakers Co) where I made high precision tooling for the metal casting industry. As I am rather entrepreneurial and learning new skills has always been a driving point for my career. In early 2007 I decided to get into the Marine Industry. Partly because of my long association with boating and continuous ocean activities as a child. Brin Wilson in Gulf Harbour took me on board, I cut my teeth there and learnt my craft in which I gained another trade certificate. Undertaking projects in the NZ and Pacific Islands.
In 2017 I decided it was time to branch out to and do my own thing, offering the direct wide skill set and knowledge I had gathered through my many years of engineering, building, foundry moulding, metals casting and shipwright understanding to the Marine industry. NZ Shipwrights was formed and here we are today, continuously growing and expanding, always tailoring our services to meet our clients needs.
